A Peek Inside My Car Snack Bag | Amara Wellness

In my experience, having snacks on-hand is the only way to travel. The right foods can drastically reduce the meltdowns and tantrums that come with low blood sugar (this is also helpful for the grown-ups and the kids in our family!) It also means that we rely less on the “food” found at airports, gas stations and rest stops. ​​

Following are some things you’ll find in my family’s snack bag:

  • Seaweed snacks
  • Hard boiled eggs with salt
  • Whole in-season fruit (apples, peaches, grapes, clementines, blueberries etc.)
  • Nuts
  • Popcorn
  • Bars (we’re fans of Larabar, Kind, Z bars)
  • Nut butter with carrot and celery sticks
  • Mini muffins (about once a month I make several batches and freeze them so I can grab as needed)
  • Sliced cheese or cheese sticks
  • Roasted crunchy chickpeas
  • Roasted pumpkin seeds
  • Smoothies (packed in an insulated mug)
  • Organic grass-fed beef jerky
  • Cucumber slices with salt or hummus to dip
